What We Believe

Heflin Baptist Church is a fellowship of believers who love God, love people, and seek to make disciples of Jesus Christ. Our beliefs are grounded in Scripture and reflect the truths expressed in the Baptist Faith & Message (2000).

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It reveals God’s plan of salvation and serves as our ultimate guide for faith and life.

God

We believe there is one true and living God, who reveals Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — three in one, co-equal and co-eternal, working together in perfect unity.

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, rose bodily from the grave, and ascended to heaven. He will one day return to reign as Lord of all.

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, regenerates believers, and dwells within every follower of Christ to empower them for holy living and faithful service.

Salvation

We believe salvation is God’s free gift of grace, received through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone. Through His death and resurrection, believers are forgiven, redeemed, and granted eternal life.

The Church

We believe the church is the body of Christ made up of all believers. Each local church is an autonomous congregation of baptized believers, joined together for worship, discipleship, fellowship, and mission.

Baptism & The Lord’s Supper

We believe baptism is the immersion of a believer in water as a public testimony of faith in Jesus Christ. The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of obedience commemorating Christ’s sacrifice and anticipating His return.

Mission & Evangelism

We believe every believer is called to share the good news of Jesus Christ locally and globally. Our mission is to love God, serve others, and make disciples of all nations.
